ENROLMENTS OPEN NOW FOR THE BRISTOL MOTHER AND BABY CERTIFICATE OF OSTEOPATHIC PRACTICE, WITH ONLINE / HYBRID LEARNING FROM HOME / CLINICS ON FRIDAYS (6 ACROSS THE YEAR) IN BRISTOL, with two technique / assessment routine weekends

DISCOUNT ENDS 3 JULY 2022– payment buttons are on main course page – click here – VISIT THE MAIN PAGE FOM THE MENU – THE BRISTOL MATERNAL AND INFANT CARE CERTIFICATE.

COURSE STARTS 1 August (pre reading) and clinics start September 2022 – you can continue to join until July, but the discount ends 3 July 2022.

THERE IS ALL THE ONLINE STUFF DISCUSSED BELOW, 6 TEACHING CLINIC DAYS, 2 PRACTICAL WEEKENDS, AND MONTHLY ZOOM SUPPPORT MEETINGS. PLEASE SEE THE INFO ON THE BRISTOAL MATERNAL AND INFANT PAGE, FROM THE MAIN MENU.

This programme has an extensive library of content, and is supported by tutorials delivered live / in person on zoom, and also has practical days associated with it, which are accompanied / preceded by videos. You can join the meetings, watch the recordings, undertake the assignment if you wish (or not!), and gain an in depth understanding of neuroscience, polyvagal, autonomic, endocrine immune, bonding, self and coregulation issues, anatomy, biomechanics, and all sorts of things to do with the way mums and the their babies move through in intrauterine period, through birth and beyond, and try to establish their bonds, their rhythms and their feeding and settling relationships.

This course embeds the Obstetrics CPD series, some of the Paeds CPD series, and the Life Sucks! lactation and infant feeding CPD series and the Rhythms talks, that are found on osteobitesize.com, but then adds to both of them significantly. These materials also form the basis for the Bristol women’s health qualifications and the Bristol paediatrics certificate. The CNMO versions had significantly to the content found on osteobitesize.com / the CPD versions.

These rhythms, arousal, tone, motor-sensory integration, balance and developmental issues, plus primitive reflexes and issues of regulation are all deeply explored from a perspective that relates to osteopathic practice and is woven into a consideration of how to apply all this science and experience into something that supports mother and child. Its highly clinically oriented and will allow you do synthesize your own approach and determine how you can begin or further your journey in supporting mums and their infants. This course is not tied to any paradigm such as the involuntary mechanism, and accordingly can explore many more relevant aspects of science and related evidence, and links many conditions of infancy such as unsettledness, poor bonding, birth stress, maternal distress, infant moulding and movement issues and dynamics of fatigue, stress and nutrition in both.

The basics of the course are contained in a general lecture and resources package, which is laid out in 24 units – see below, and then adds material each month.

Each month / module of the certificate requires you to read a number of these units, so you gradually cover them all over the course of the programme. On the main course page you will see a list of module content, and we use all these units and more to support the theme of each of those monthly modules.

The programme will guide you through all this material and the regular monthly meetings will support you in your journey, allow you to ask questions and to explore various cases. The Certificate programme specifically challenges osteopaths to think how they can integrate with midwives and lactation consultants and how interdisciplinary communication and interaction can be improved.

This is a huge resource for all things mum and bub, and looks at a whole range of osteopathic approaches and concepts for the care of mum through pregnancy, pain, movement and posture, general pregnancy ailments and problems, preparation for labour and delivery, post partum care, recovery from tissue injury and  returning to function, breastfeeding and settling into the new family role and dynamics..  For both it covers the materno-foetal interaction and which is so important – showing how their journey together through pregnancy, birth and beyond sets the scene for some many ‘presentations’. For the babies it covers infant birth trauma, infant pain, unsettledness, autonomics, arousal, moulding, intraosseous strain, movement dynamics, neurosensory integration, feeding, ears, breathing, digestion, development, motor coordination, growth, red flags, risk assessment, examination and treatment considerations and loads more.  Long term access to online resources.

FORMAT – 3 SEMESTERS OF 3 MONTHS – each month covers a range of this material below, in ‘chronological order’ and then brings clinical context, examination and assessment routines / videos, case discussions and troubleshooting, and more. You can do fully online, or the Certificate – which is assessed and requires 6 Friday attendances (various dates available, and two weekends for an obstetrics and paediatrics assessment overview and technique intensive.

Certificate / Diploma / Collegiate

CURRENTLY THE BRITSOL CERTIFICATE IS THE ONLY MATERNAL AND INFANT PROGRAMME AVAILABLE TO ENROL.

These are a new and exciting set of programmes where mums and babies are considered together, and are not ‘separated out’ into either just women’s health issues or paediatrics.  It is impossible to care for new mums or their babies without considering them together, as one, and this unique course offers an extensive programme about maternal and infant care.

The Collegiate programmes are for experience practitioners who want to delve deeper and contribute more fully to their patients and to the profession. This can be joined any time as it is a mentored programme. Please enquire for details.
