Teaching Clinics / LECTURE VENUES / student accommodation
We are building a network of teaching clinic locations and are also looking to collaborate with local clinics that would support out students through observation opportunities. Participating private clinics would get tutoring and mentoring support as required. Caroline would attend all group clinics in the host location, to deliver clinical demonstrations / patient evaluation and hands on guidance to students. Numbers are small – 4 to 6 graduate students per visit.
All teaching clinics deliver ‘somatophysiological care’, and do not give osteopathy. There is a particular reason for this. Caroline has voluntarily deregistered from the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) in good standing and practices manual therapy as a somatophysiological / functional manual medicine practitioner. In addition, many graduate students on Caroline’s programmes are from abroad, and so are not registered with the GOsC to practice Osteopathy in the UK. So, whilst the programmes educate about osteopathic practice, any teaching clinics, which are mostly demonstration and not including treatment in most cases, demonstrate the particular somatophysiological approaches that Caroline has developed from her 40 years in osteopathic and manual medicine practice. They are all based on osteopathic principles, but do not constitute a claim to practice / deliver osteopathy in the UK within a clinical setting. Any patients referred to or attending to the teaching clinics are made aware that their care is delivered by a somatophysiological practitioner and as such is not ‘osteopathy as delivered by a UK GOsC Registered Osteopath’. Overall clinical responsibility lies with the referring osteopathic clinic and the practitioner who referred the patient, and these referring practitioners are given a report from the teaching clinic about the examination and evaluation findings noted, as well as suggestions for management based on the principles used in the CNMO taught programmes.

This is in the Business First / ACE Centre, NELSON Lancashire, BB9 7NN and is where all Caroline’s in-person lectures are held. Clinics may be held in a variety of places.

Our teaching clinics give the opportunity to build your competence and experience, and to help you appreciate the roles, potential and boundaries associated with professional healthcare, and to help you with direct hands-on and patient experience.

The ACE Centre, Nelson, Lancashire, BB9 7NN, UK. Student numbers here are limited to one per session. Please enquire to book a slot. If no patients for whatever reason a programme related tutorial is given instead.
Caroline’s clinic focuses on patients with a range of visceral and systemic conditions, such as chronic fatigue, long covid, breathing problems, functional gastro-intestinal problems and more.

PAEDIATRICS, AND MOTHER AND BABY CLINIC
This is hosted by the Wells Road Osteopathic Clinic, Bristol, and will operate on various dates.
This clinic is focused on a range of things including: general infant care, birth stress and strain, development across the first years of life, movement and general function, posture and head-shapes, unsettledness, sleeping dynamics and infant feeding; it includes care of mum in the peripartum period, and includes breastfeeding and post birth dynamics. The clinic aims to help graduate students learn about these types of presentations, and where possible, how they might be helped using osteopathic principles and philosophy.

Student accomodation
When attending in-person lectures at the Ace Centre, Nelson, Lancashire, there is an opportunity to stay in the student accommodation. This is bunk-bed style / youth hostel style accommodation, but is included in the price for attendees (to the Nelson lectures only). There are a limited number of spaces, so first come first served. Thereafter you will need to search out and pay for your own accommodation.
