Complex Pelvic Care Certificate

Mini content snippet – also posted on the main Women’s Health Diploma Page.

This is a component of the Women’s Health Diploma – and is designed for those that don’t want to include course material on fertility, antenatal obstetrics, menopause and older woman dynamics, but want to focus on pelvic organ, pelvic pain, and pelvic floor dynamics. This programme is for those wishing to focus on complex pelvic and post partum care, and is run in 2 practical parts / stages plus an emodule. Please note if you have NO hands on visceral or systemic care concepts you may need to attend the intro to female pelvic care/ global and general module* – 3 days (stage one) in addition to the 5 day programme (stage 2) – see below – please ask Caroline for details as there is quite a bit of assumed knowledge and skills we need to check you have. Note: this can also be done afterwards, to help contextualise your overall osteopathic approaches. The stage one dates include a preparatory female pelvic anatomy / visceral hands on skills, to bring your general pelvic care hands on confidence up to the level advisable for the 5 day complex course (the stage 2 part). The emodule also required is discussed below, and all parts of this learning at home section need to be completed.

*Note, this date is now passed for the September 5 day programme, but you can still attend the forthcoming March 5-day programme if you are confident in your general pelvic knowledge and skills (price just for the March block is £750 – please message Caroline for payment details for this).. Future dates for both sections are also below., and are included in the overall course fee discussed below.

This is a condensed programme for those wishing to focus on complex pelvic and post partum care

Enrolments open now, and close 30 November if you want to participate in tutorial support for the emodules. Otherwise you can cover that material later, and enrol later, but you will need to complete the mini assessments before the Certificate can be awarded.

So, the earlier you enrol the more time you have to start on the emodules. You need to plan to cover the required pre-reading / viewing BUT this can be completed afterwards, as viewing is aligned with mini quizzes and assignments, plus a portfolio of cases.

The online resources are available on enrolment, and you need to work through ideally this before the practical course.  There are 10 1-2 hour lectures, with various downloadable resources, to work through as a series, and then there are some other lecture recordings orienting you to global osteopathic concepts, so that you can contextualise that you have learned in terms of complex pelvic pain.  There are 3 compulsory tutorials where the online resources are summarised and we have a Q and A session to support your learning.  This is accompanied by a 5 day practical intensive.  Then you submit your assessment components (see full requirements below)- you have up to 6 months after the course to do so, or you can submit earlier if you are ready to do so. Please note: this course is organised for you to be eligible for whombs.org certification

Tutorial dates – a series of one hour, sessions, for those enrolled before end of November 2026. 7pm UK time on be confirmed – please check with Caroline +447508843232 – leave a whatsapp message is best and I will be in touch. These dates can be held after the course to ensure all material is covered.

Practical intensive blocks – please try to do the bundled course option and attend both practical parts – the intro and the complex 5 day – even if you are already working in women’s pelvic health you will still get additional insights into osteopathic approaches on the intro course. In Colne, there is an option of free accommodation included (limited places – and not guaranteed. Please plan in case you need to find and fund your own).  Colne Lancashire BB9 area.  See the CNMO accommodation leaflet on the teaching venues page.

Programme dates, venue and cost

Dates of current practical: 22-26 March, 2027 (yes, leading into Easter weekend).

This 5 day block covers global osteopathic assessment following systemic and whole person dynamics.  It recaps visceral and fascial-fluidic considerations for the abdomino-pelvic cavity.  It includes postural, lymphatic, immune and endocrine dynamics and as a somatic / muscular body container and pelvic floor dynamics.  It includes a detailed exploration of the pelvic osseous components, the organs, nerves and associated structures, as well as external and internal pelvic techniques.

The next dates:

Next pelvic intro / overview course – 15-16-17 January, 2027 with the associated 5 day course on 22-23-24-25-26 March, 2027. If you are novice at pelvic care you need to attend both. If you have already done a women’s health / pelvic course before, you can attend the 5 day one, but are also welcome on the 3 day first stage course too. Both dates are included in the price of the Certification. The 2 courses are available as a bundled course – fee of £900, otherwise the 5 day is £750, and the Intro pelvic is £350 if you are doing it on its own.

Please make every effort to do both weekends if possible.

How do we teach these approaches sensitively?

Everyone can choose not to be a model, you don’t have to justify why.  Caroline steps in to act as a model where needed.  Everyone is draped, one to one guidance is given, slow careful discussions in advance of the techniques, and in depth understanding of rationale, consenting, expectations and comparisons to other urogynaecological approaches is included.  The last two days of the course cover the most sensitive approaches, and internal approaches are reserved for the last day.  Having a 5 day programme allows respectful building of a community of practitioners during the course, and this absolutely helps people confidence in the sensitive approaches drawn on in this course.

Please note, Caroline does allow men as well as women on this programme.  This is extremely important for reasons of inclusion, and, we find that both men and women are able to respectfully accommodate all the sensitivities required.  90% of the time the participants are only female, but, I won’t turn away male practitioners on principle.  Please discuss this with me directly, but rest assured you do not have to have hands on from a person, of any gender, that you do not wish.  Everyone deserves the learning opportunity.

Assessment

This programme is assessed through participation in online tutorials, practical assessment during the in-person component, a portfolio of cases, mini emodule quizzes, a reflective essay and a mini literature review regarding a pelvic condition requiring sensitive or intimate area approaches. You will get a lot of mentoring and support and feedback through this assessment phase – and this is all included in your course cost. The emodule contains help and guidance about doing mini literature reviews.

Please note, if you need more help in your practical skills we have top up hands on sessions you can attend, and if you wish to have the whombs certification this may be a requirement – for example for those that come on the course with no prior experience, and no current pelvic pain patient list. Please discus with Caroline to clarify.

Cost

Fixed fee of £900 – for both courses together – the pelvic intro in January, the 5 day programme in March, and the emodules.
